It was our senior year of high school, and before we went out and confronted something resembling reality, we wanted to make a feature film. Or a short feature. Or something.
And we wanted it to be original, as much as we enjoy mocking other, more successful movies.
After a slew of script conferences, we agreed to combine the two plot threads we liked the mostone of self-imposed confinement to a basement, and one of a two-man invasion of Canada. The final plot structure and characters were hashed out on a plane from Chicago to New York. Kent was to take a more active role in the on-set duties. Adam would be writing again, and acting (?) even more.
Was a short feature too much for us to handle? Perhaps. Principal photography began in December 2000 and we were still shooting elements in August 2001. Post-production came to a screeching halt following computer malfunctions.
In August 2002, the most egregious computer-generated errors were corrected with superior technology and the film was 'released', a mere year late. There was no formal premiere or screening, but DVDs were mailed to the cast and crew.
Adam is still very fond of this script and its ideas, and hopes to develop it into a true feature film some day.
